About Lynn Clancy, MS, PT

Not everyone is qualified to provide training and assistance to someone with a history of medical conditions or surgery. As both a licensed physical therapist and a certified personal trainer, I am able to work safely with you regardless of your health status.

My deep knowledge of anatomy and physiology means I understand the precautions needed when working with clients of all health backgrounds. I can work in consultation with your primary care physician, cardiologist and/or neurologist to design and help you implement a safe exercise program. Or, we can take a goals-based approach to achieving the lifestyle you’ve been seeking.

When you work with me, you can feel confident your are receiving informed, professional care with a focus on achieving the best results possible.

My background and experience

I have been practicing physical therapy for more than 12 years. My degrees include a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy (2000) from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions and a Bachelor of Arts, Exercise Physiology (1998) from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. I have been licensed as a Physical Therapist through the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professionals since 2000.

I served as a Staff Physical Therapist at Brigham & Women’s Hospital from 2001-2003 and a Senior Physical Therapist there from 2003-2004. At Brigham & Women’s, I also worked as a clinical instructor, teaching students how to work with patients who had undergone cardio or thoracic surgery.

At Brigham & Women’s Hospital, I treated and coordinated rehab services for patients with a wide range of medical conditions and diagnoses, including patients recovering from heart and lung transplants and ventricular assist device implants. I also received specialized training in the evaluation and treatment of patients receiving orthopedic and neurological services.

My clinical education included a year-long internship with Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, MA, where I assisted an extremely varied patient population with conditions that ranged from amputations to neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, renal and oncology impairments.

In addition to my extensive experience at Boston-area hospitals, I also worked for eight years as staff Physical Therapist with the VNA Care Network, where I collaborated closely with nursing, occupation therapy, medical social work and speech therapy disciplines to provide comprehensive care in the homecare environment.

Clancy Physical Therapy & Personal Training was founded out of my love for helping clients achieve their PT and training goals in the the comfort of their own homes. In addition to my medical training as a Physical Therapist, I obtained a Certification in Personal Training from the American College of Sports Medicine in 2005. My goal was to pursue my interest in helping otherwise healthy clients achieve better fitness.

My personal training strategy is to assist people in creating their own home workout space, and provide the equipment to meet their goals. Since founding Clancy Physical Therapy & Personal Training, I’ve been happy to help clients with a wide range of medical histories, both healthy and medically complex. I enjoy the experience of working with clients to help them achieve a more active lifestyle.

When I’m not assisting clients, you can find me enjoying a wide range of physical activities, including cross-country skiing, hiking, cycling, and Pilates. I’m also an avid gardener and I love to travel.
